Wayne Rooney in talks over move back to Everton

Wayne Rooney is in advanced talks with Everton about leaving Manchester United to return to his boyhood club, according to The Guardian,

Rooney joined Manchester United from Everton in 2004 for a fee of £25.6m, a record at the time for a teenager. 13 years later, the United legend has been linked with a move back to Everton after not getting regular football under Jose Mourinho.

Rooney has a year left on his current £250,000 a week contract at United and Everton are reported to offer him that exact same money to try and lure him home.

Rooney has said before that he’ll only leave Manchester United for one other team which is Everton, and with The Toffees interested in getting Rooney back to Goodison Park, this transfer is looking likely, also, interest from China that was previously there is fading so Everton’s chances are looking good.

United haven’t given Everton a valuation of Rooney just yet, however, Rooney only has a year left on his contract and Man United pay him £13m a year so they could let him go for free just to get him off the books.
