- Everton reportedly monitoring an experienced winger seeking regular football.
- David Moyes needs greater attacking threat heading into next season.
- A summer opportunity could solve one persistent issue within squad.
Samuel Chukwueze’s uncertain future could present an interesting market opportunity this summer.
According to reports from Nigeria, the AC Milan winger is expected to return to Italy following a loan spell at Fulham, but his long-term prospects at San Siro remain unclear. With Milan reportedly open to offers and Fulham seemingly unlikely to activate their purchase option, Chukwueze could find himself searching for a new challenge in the coming months.
Whether Everton are interested remains to be seen.
However, the situation is one that should at least attract attention from clubs looking to add pace, creativity and unpredictability in wide areas.
That description certainly applies to Everton.
Strong reputation at Villarreal
While David Moyes oversaw significant progress following his return to Merseyside, there remains a strong argument that the Blues require additional quality in the final third. Everton often relied on structure, organisation and resilience last season, but there were occasions when they lacked players capable of producing moments of individual brilliance.
At his best, Chukwueze can provide exactly that.
The Nigeria international built his reputation at Villarreal, where his explosive dribbling, direct running and ability to beat defenders made him one of La Liga’s most exciting wide players. His subsequent move to AC Milan has not delivered the consistency many expected, but flashes of that talent have remained evident.
His loan spell at Fulham offered further evidence.
Chukwueze contributed three goals and four assists across all competitions during the 2025/26 season and enjoyed a productive run of form during the middle part of the campaign. While reports suggest Fulham are unlikely to make the move permanent, his performances demonstrated that he remains capable of influencing matches at Premier League level.
That does not mean Everton should rush into a deal.
There are understandable concerns. Chukwueze has struggled to consistently reproduce the form that made him such a highly regarded prospect in Spain, while any transfer would need to represent value for money. Yet there is also a clear footballing case for monitoring the situation.
Pivotal summer for Toffees
Everton need greater attacking dynamism. They need players capable of stretching defences, carrying the ball over distance and creating opportunities out of nothing. Those qualities remain central to Chukwueze’s game.
The Blues are entering a pivotal summer as they continue building towards the future under Moyes and the Friedkin Group. Recruitment will be crucial, and opportunities to acquire talented players whose market value may have dipped do not come around every day.
Chukwueze may not be a perfect fit, and there is no indication that Everton are currently pursuing a move.
But if his future at Milan remains uncertain, this is exactly the type of situation worth keeping a close eye on.
