Allardyce says Everton will not face a points deduction

Everton are not in any danger of facing a points deduction in the Premier League, according to their former manager Sam Allardyce.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former England boss says Everton fans needn’t worry about recent reports claiming the Toffees could be punished for their pursuit of Marco Silva.

The Times are reporting that the club could be handed with a hefty fine or points deduction for the manner in which they approached Watford for Silva.

However, Allardyce draws comparisons to the most recent case of ‘tapping up’ a manager, in which Chelsea were not given a points deduction.

It won’t happen that. It will be suspended like the last one.

Everton were involved in a very public pursuit of Silva when they first sacked Ronald Koeman.

The club identified him as their main target but Watford, who had started the season in fine form, were unwilling to let him go.

The Hornets would then go on a drastic drop in form that would see Silva sacked and Everton’s pursuit has been cited as the reason behind such a drop-off.
