  • Everton battle European rivals to secure a promising £7m defensive powerhouse.
  • James Garner uses international squad heartbreak as fuel for next season.
  • Jack Grealish drops massive social media hint favoring permanent Everton move.

Has been a busy old day so far in terms of Everton news and views.

Moyes’ summer blueprint to propel the club forward is yet to yield any new faces, but rumours are aplenty. Here is everything you need to know about today’s breaking stories…

“Going to motivate me more”

James Garner has broken his silence following a bittersweet end to the season. Despite a remarkable individual campaign, culminating in his England debut and winning both Everton’s Men’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards, he was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad.

Reflecting on a poor seven-game winless streak that scuppered Everton’s European dreams, Garner was disappointed but insisted the international snub would only fuel his fire. “It’s only going to motivate me more,” Garner said, emphasising that despite the late-season collapse, progress has been made under Moyes.

KDH for England?

Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall spoke of his own international football ambitions, shutting down online rumours suggesting a potential allegiance switch to the Republic of Ireland. The midfielder made it clear that breaking into the England setup remains his main objective.

Crucially, the Everton recruitment radar has turned toward defensive reinforcements. With Jarrad Branthwaite’s campaign plagued by injuries, and veteran centre-backs James Tarkowski and Michael Keane both in their 30s, defensive depth looks to be a priority.

Reports suggest that the Blues have entered a multi-club race for OH Leuven’s highly rated defender, Roggerio Nyakossi. The 22-year-old Swiss Under-21 captain has had a standout season in Belgium, attracting attention from across Europe.

Available at a bargain £7m asking price due to a £5m buyback clause held by his former club Marseille, Everton face stiff competition from Premier League rivals, including Liverpool and newly-promoted Ipswich, alongside several Bundesliga clubs.

Jack staying?

Finally, the future of Jack Grealish has taken a positive twist. The Manchester City winger, who won the Premier League’s Player of the Month award in August before a January foot injury ended his season, took to Instagram yesterday to send a heartfelt message to the supporters.

Expressing his gratitude for his time on Merseyside, Grealish also dropped a heavy hint that he favours a permanent return to the Toffees over heading back to the Etihad bench – a sentiment that offers significant encouragement to Evertonians ahead of a pivotal summer window.

matchday.
