Severity of Coleman’s injury revealed as defender suffers broken foot

Everton’s Seamus Coleman is set for a stint on the sidelines once again as it is revealed he suffered a broken foot against Wales.

The Daily Mail reports that the defender has undergone a scan on the injury, with it already confirmed that he had suffered a blow against Ryan Giggs’ side, but the damage was not previously known.

It’s another injury setback for Coleman, who was out of the game for 10 months with a broken leg.

The news compiles what was a miserable international break for Ireland, who have seen reports of a bust-up behind the scenes emerged before they fell to a 4-1 defeat against Wales.

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill has already expressed his desire to have the defender back in the squad as soon as possible.

He is a great captain, a really great captain. He is inspirational and obviously we hope he is back in time for the games coming up.

Marco Silva now has a decision to make within his defence, with injuries piling up at Goodison Park so early in the season.
