Everton draw Ruzomberok or Brann in the Europa League

In the Europa League draw today, Everton drew Ruzomberok of Slovakia or Brann of Norway.

Brann are currently in the lead against Ruzemberok after a 1-0 first leg win away from home so the Norwegian club look most likely to face Everton in the third qualifying round.

If Ronald Koeman’s side get through against Ruzomberok or Brann, they will be entered into the play-off round – one stage before the groups.

Everton’s last stint in the Europa League was in 2014/15, where they finished top of Group H above Wolfsburg, who they beat 4-1 at Goodison Park, Krasnodar and Lille. After finishing top of their group, Everton faced Young Boys in the Round of 32 and they won 7-2 on aggregate.

However, the campaign came to an end when they faced Dynamo Kyiv in the Round of 16 and lost 6-4 on aggregate. Kyiv then got knocked out against Fiorentina 3-1 on aggregate in the next round.

Everton are likely to do well in the Europa League as they have many new signings to add to their already talented squad such as Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Henry Onyekuru, Sandro Ramirez and former Toffee, Wayne Rooney.

The England international was signed from the current Europa League holders Manchester United, who beat Ajax 2-0 in last year’s final.

Business for The Toffees is not done yet either, with Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson being heavily linked.

matchday.
