Rumours: Shaqiri or Sako?

This transfer window has seen good and bad times already for Everton.

Having signed up free agent Tom Cleverley and former loanee Gerard Deulofeu, the Toffees also disappointingly missed out on centre half Angelo Ogbonna, who joined West Ham earlier this week.

The transfer merry-go-round remains in full swing however, and two names have popped up recently on Everton’s radar. Both are wingers, from entirely different spectrums of the footballing world.

Xherden Shaqiri is one of the two names, and a very exciting one too. The former Bayern player is currently on Inter Milan’s books, but seems to be heading out the door just six months after arriving at the San Siro.

The other is Bakary Sako. The Mali international has excelled for Wolves these last two seasons. Kenny Jackett’s side have rose from League One to the Championship, and almost made a Championship Play-off appearance last campaign.

So how do the two transfer targets compare?

Sako contributed 15 goals and eight assists last season at Molineux.  Whereas Shaqiri came up with just six goals and four assists.

Both made over 30 appearances for their retrospective clubs, with Swiss superstar Shaqiri obtaining an 84% pass completion rate, Sako meanwhile scored far less with 76.9%

When it comes to dribbling with the ball, both are very fast and hard to mark. They can drift inside or outside of the defender and use either foot. This is considered both men’s strongest asset to the team.

Sako completed an average of 2.8 dribbles a match, offering 1.5 key passes along the way.

In comparison, Shaqiri has 1.5 key passes and 1 dribble per match to his name.

If either were to join the club, they would more than likely take the place of unsettled Belgian Kevin Mirallas.

Who would you rather see wear the Goodison colours? #Sako or #Shaqiri #efc #toffeetalk.
