OTD: Everton thrash Manchester United 4-0 at Goodison Park

With everything that is going on in the footballing world right now, it is nice to take a step back in time.

Hence why, on this day (21st April) in 2019, the Toffees ran out 4-0 winners over Manchester United at Goodison Park.

It was a day to remember for Everton fans all over, with it being their biggest win against the Red Devils since 1984.

The goals kicked off fairly quickly with Richarlison netting in the 13th minute a spectacular bicycle kick.

A long throw in from Lucas Digne was nodded on by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the Brazilian forward giving the Toffees the lead.

Everton doubled the lead just before the half hour mark with a fantastic counter attack lead by Bernard and Idrissa Gueye.

The ball eventually fell into the feat of Gylfi Sigurdsson who rocketed the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box.

I’m sure we all remember the third goal, with Lucas Digne falling on the end of a clearance after a Toffees corner.

The Frenchman smashed the ball on the volley which found its way into the back of the net.

However, three goals wasn’t enough for the Blues, with Theo Walcott wanting to get in on the act just eight minutes later.

The Englishman sprinted his way onto a through ball from Sigurdsson and managed to slot the ball passed David De Gea.

Three points against United took Everton up to seventh place and level on points with Watford.

It may not have been the most memorable season, but it certainly was a memorable victory for the Blues.

matchday.
