Pundit tips Everton to land Donny van de Beek in January

Everton have been tipped to sign out of favour Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek in the January transfer window.

This comes after the Toffees’ director of football Marcel Brands told NOS’s Along the Line that the club attempted to sign the 24-year-old during the summer.

Since then the Ajax academy graduate has continued to struggle for regular first-team football at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor tipped the Blues to land their man in the mid-season window.

I think they will. It’s turning into a joke now. Man United need to just let him go and play football. You’re trapping him at the club and not giving him any minutes. With the performances of Fred and McTominay, Van De Beek deserves a chance to show what he can do. Man United need to let him go in January and play some football. The kid just wants to play football. He needs a run of games. Not just the occasional 60 minutes. Give him a run of games.

So far this season the 19-cap Holland starlet has played just 141 minutes for the Red Devils – including just six Premier League minutes.

Signing the Dutchman would be a huge boost to Rafa Benitez’ squad.

With both Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Fabian Delpth and Andre Gomes all fighting for form and fitness, another option – especially attack-minded – would be a welcome addition.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract until 2025 (Transfermarkt), loaning the ace would be a shrewd and inexpensive option.
