Roberto Martinez is determined to stay on as Everton manager and embraces the expectations bestowed upon him at Goodison Park, according to the Mirror.
The former Wigan Athletic boss has come under severe scrutiny this season and is currently guiding his side to their second bottom-half finish in as many seasons.
The majority of Evertonians want Martinez relieved of his duties, but he is convinced he is still the right man for the job.
I need to show that,
I’m not someone who is going to come up with excuses.
I am very, very aware of what it means to be the Everton manager. I am the first one to embrace expectations. I’m not happy just to be a football club that is looking to just do enough. We want to win silverware.

Martinez repeatedly lauds his Everton side and many think the current squad is the best assembled since the glory days of the 80’s, but in the penultimate month of the season the Blues are yet to reach 40 points and have produced a couple of truly awful displays in their last two Premier League matches.
I expect that the scrutiny and the disappointment will be there when we don’t win football games. We need to see the transition and the way we have been adapting season after season.
But I don’t have to sell any smoke. I need to win football games in order for the fans to understand that’s the way forward.
His bizarre reaction to Leighton Baines’ comments only helped to alienate him with more of the club’s fans and with Farhad Moshiri waiting to show his influence, as well as the simply woeful league and home form, Martinez’s days as at Goodison Park could well be coming to an end.
