Jamie Carragher reveals admiration for Marco Silva

Former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher has hailed the impressive work of Everton boss Marco Silva.

The Portuguese has done an excellent job since arriving at Goodison Park in the summer, with the Blues sixth in the Premier League and playing some lovely football.

Speaking to Everton’s official website, Carragher says it is Silva’s signings that have caught the eye the most, with a few individuals singled out for specific praise:

I’ve been really impressed with Marco Silva. I think the signings have come in and made a big difference, too.

As a manager, you want your signings to do well, and it looks like every one of them has made impact.

I’ve watched Silva’s teams play since he first came into the Premier League at Hull and they’ve always been very well organised.

I think that’s what we’ve seen at Everton up until now. He’s brought in Richarlison, who looks fantastic. He looks like one of the best signings in the league at this stage.

I was at the Chelsea game and I thought Yerry Mina was very good. I enjoyed his performance and we gave him the man of the match.

And (Gylfi) Sigurdsson looks like he’s showing the type of player we know he can be.

Carragher, famously a boyhood Evertonian, was speaking ahead of Sunday’s 232nd Merseyside derby at Anfield.

The Blues are looking for a first victory at the home of Liverpool since 1999, bringing an end to nearly 20 years of frustration there.

Everton will have their work cut out, but there is definitely a certain amount of confidence heading into the game.
