Four Findings: Cardiff City 0-3 Everton

After having a 17-day layoff, Everton finally returned to action and travelled to take on Cardiff City. Most Evertonians were not optimistic about this trip as the club had only taken a measly 12 points on the road this season.

With the surprise return of Morgan Schneiderlin to the starting XI, Everton looked to get back on the winning track before the Merseyside Derby. The starting XI stayed the same for the most part besides the additions of Phil Jagielka and Scheiderlin.

It looked as though Marco Silva set up Everton to defend and play on the counter by starting Gana and Schneiderlin together. Well, it worked out nicely for Silva and Everton. Everton controlled the match with 67% possession and had 12 shots compared to Cardiff’s six.

Strong performances from Seamus Coleman, Idrissa Gana Gueye, and Sigurdsson propelled Everton to gain three much-needed points. We hope that the Toffees can carry this momentum into the important match against Liverpool this weekend. Here are four things we learned from the win.
