A second consecutive bottom-half finish wasn’t on Romelu Lukaku or Everton’s agenda for this season, but here we are in April, with that looking inevitable.
The Toffees sit in 14th place in the Premier League despite Lukaku’s contribution of 18 goals and six assists, which has led to rumours of a summer exit.
The Belgian’s future has come under increased speculation over the past few weeks as Martinez’s side find themselves a distance from Lukaku (and Everton’s) dream of European football.
Although Martinez has led his side to two semi-finals this term, the drastic league disappointment over the last two seasons will no doubt have the former Anderlecht hitman thinking of leaving Goodison Park.
There’s no doubt Lukaku will one day reach the top – with or without Everton.
