According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Everton are interested in Kostas Manolas.
The Greek international has impressed throughout his two-year-spell at Roma and it’s unsurprising that he’s been linked with a move away from the the Italian giants.
Everton’s Premier League rivals, Chelsea, have also been linked with a move for the defender.
Roberto Martinez’s side are in dire need of defensive reinforcements, a need that will become greater should John Stones leave this summer.
Manolas would definitely help Everton in their quest for European football, he’s honed his skills during his time in Italy and would be warmly welcomed by the side who have conceded 28 times in 16 home games this season.
The Blues almost signed the centre-half in 2012, but the deal fell through on deadline day.
All in all, this deal looks to be a bit of a long shot. Roma are close to securing Champions League football for next season and Everton are some distance from Europa League qualification.
Which begs the question, why would Manolas leave Roma for Everton?
Perhaps the allure of Everton’s new riches will be enough to persuade the Greek international.
