Everton v Watford – Alex’s XI

The corresponding fixture last campaign was most certainly my personal highlight of the season. David Unsworth’s big moment came as Leighton Baines netted from the spot in added time to seal the win before Sam Allardyce came in shortly after and entered our club into a very dark period.

Getting the win was the least that Rhino deserved after some of his players seemingly refused to play for him in the weeks leading up to the game, most prominently in the Lyon, Atalanta and Southampton fixtures.

This season however, a very different Everton side will take on a very different Watford side under very different circumstances, all of those said circumstances being very spicy indeed.

Marco Silva takes on his old club with their old star man lining up in the Royal Blue, while one of Goodison’s prodigal sons returns in the yellow of Watford, and it isn’t Tom Cleverley.

Richarlison vs Gerard Deulofeu is merely a sub-plot in what is going to be a very soap-opera-esque fixture, but one that, most importantly, we must win.

Coming off of a disappointing result against Newcastle, I’ll make a few changes.

matchday.
