Everton v Manchester City: Alex’s XI

I may have touched upon the fact that, in a season, I consider some fixtures write-offs. Anfield is obviously one of them, Stamford Bridge is another (Although I was very pleasantly surprised with our performances at both ground this year.). The Etihad is most definitely the third.

I don’t mind playing City at home too much, as we have historically done very well against them at Goodison, but the Etihad, at least nowadays is a very different beast.

We go there losing a semblance of form that we were picking up with two horrid results against Newcastle and Watford, however, this could be the game to really, really kickstart Marco Silva’s reign if we were to come away with a historic result. The way we have been playing against some of the worst teams in the league, perhaps playing the greatest team in the league, if not, the world right now could be the ‘Us against the World’ fixture that we truly need right now.

matchday.
