Everton showing interest in Poulsen

Everton are reportedly interested in a swoop to sign RB Leipzig forward Yussuf Poulsen this summer.

According to Sport Bild, Everton are among the clubs keen on a deal for the centre-forward as they look to bolster their squad.

The report claims that Poulsen is unhappy at Leipzig and has told the club that he wants to leave at the end of the season.

Whilst Poulsen has struggled in front of goal this season, with just three Bundesliga strikes, he could be just the signing Everton need. The Blues lack competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Poulsen could provide it.

Aside from Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin, no Everton player has scored more than three Premier League goals. In fact, only two players have scored more than one league goal if you take away the dynamic duo up front. This means that adding an additional goal threat in the form of Poulsen could be a smart move by the club.

Despite his poor form this season, it should be noted that in the 2018/19 campaign Poulsen managed to score 15 Bundesliga goals in just 27 starts. If Everton can get him back to his best and firing on all cylinders then he could seriously challenge Calvert-Lewin for his starting spot, or even force Ancelotti to consider starting both of them at the same time.

Over the course of his career, Poulsen has also won – on average – 3.6 aerial battles per game. This means that even if he fails to score goals on a consistent basis, he could still offer an outlet up front to hold the ball up or create chances for others, helping Everton’s attack to thrive.
