Everton rejoin race for Williams

Everton look set to rejoin the race for Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams, reports TalkSPORT.

Although Williams signed a new five-year-deal in January, speculation has grown as a host of clubs around Europe are keep tabs on the exciting prospect.

Fellow Premier League side Manchester City are also reported to be interested in the 21-year-old, with the club sending scouts to watch him over the past 12 months.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are also keen on the forward, as Zinedine Zidane prepares for his first summer window as manager at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The winger has impressed in La Liga this season, scoring seven goals in 18 appearances.

Williams has played as a right winger on 14 occasions in all competitions, scoring nine times – his total goal tally so far this term.

The Spaniard has also performed well in cup competitions this season, Inaki’s two goals in three starts have helped them into the round of 16 in the Europa League where they play Gary Neville’s Valencia on Thursday – with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg.

He also scored in the second leg of the Copa del Rey quarter-final against Barcelona but it wasn’t enough as Bilbao exited the tournament, losing 5-2 over the two legs.

Whilst his new contract includes a £39million buyout clause, Bilbao are said to consider an offer around half of the figure, which is well within Everton’s budget with the new investment from majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
