Everton Player Ratings: Liverpool (H)

Being an Everton player in the tunnel awaiting Z Cars before the game would have been a harrowing experience. The noise inside the ground was absolutely nothing like I’ve ever seen it. A genuinely deafening few minutes preceded a mostly gritty, at times excellent first period.

Lucas Digne, Séamus Coleman and Gylfi Sigurdsson were the key men in the first period as we were far and away the better team, both in attack and defence.

Mr Silva most definitely got the message across to his players that aggression was needed more than anything else, as we put in our most impressive display in regards to pressing Liverpool inside their own half, as Alisson, Matip and Alexander-Arnold looked horrifically shaky for large portions of the first half.

Evertonians were up for the game, and the players most certainly reciprocated it.

The second half made me question a lot of things. How in the world is that Liverpool side top of the league? They were a very poor side, and most definitely the worst of the top six sides to come to Goodison so far this season.

Our players made them look clueless, and have hopefully proven to the rest of the league that they are not as invincible as people would have you believe.

Here are our Everton player ratings.
