Everton in talks over potential €40m Reinier Jesus deal – would it be a good move?

Everton are reportedly in talks with Flamengo over a potential big-money deal for midfielder Reinier Jesus – but would it be a good move?

According to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, cited by TEAMTalk, the Toffees are in discussions with Flamengo and are willing to pay a total of €40 million for the 17-year-old’s services this summer.

Jesus, who has previously been linked with Liverpool, is attracting interest from numerous European giants, however, it is the Toffees who are thought to be showing the most interest.

AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Real Madrid are all tracking the youngster, who, despite not featuring in a first-team fixture, has a release clause set at a staggering £60 million.

The midfielder is regarded as a future world star and has the ability to dribble past defenders with ease in a variety of midfield positions.

The teenager began his career has as a defensive midfielder before transforming into a number 10 in recent years.

Jesus, who has a real eye for goal, has been tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner by many and would be a real coup by the Toffees if they manage to get a deal over the line.

Everton could then hand the player a first taste of senior football next season, which could see him shine in one of the biggest leagues in the world.
