Three clubs poised to pounce on Everton and Moyes decision
  • Everton must decide Armstrong’s future amid growing Championship interest.
  • Derby County lead several clubs pursuing talented midfielder on loan.
  • David Moyes faces important development decision before season begins soon.

Everton are set to make a decision on Harrison Armstrong’s future, with several Championship clubs keen to take the midfielder on loan for the 2026/27 season.

According to reports, Derby County and Middlesbrough are among the sides tracking the Everton youngster, while Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers are also keeping a close eye on the situation.

Armstrong is regarded as one of the brightest prospects to come through Finch Farm in recent years and is approaching a pivotal stage of his career. After gaining valuable senior experience, the next move could play a major role in determining how quickly he pushes towards a regular place in Everton’s first-team plans.

Moyes has a key decision to make

David Moyes will soon have to decide whether Armstrong’s development is best served by another season of regular football in the Championship or by remaining at Everton and competing for opportunities in the senior squad.

The midfielder has already shown he can handle the demands of the second tier. His previous spell at Derby County drew positive reviews and gave him the chance to experience the intensity of week-to-week senior football.

That experience has only strengthened his reputation, and it is no surprise to see clubs returning with interest this summer.

Everton supporters will also be eager to see how the club manages one of its most promising academy graduates. The Blues have long prided themselves on creating pathways for young players, and Armstrong is widely viewed as one of the leading talents currently progressing through the system.

Derby reunion could appeal to all parties

A return to Derby County may prove attractive given Armstrong’s familiarity with the club and the role he previously enjoyed there. Regular minutes would almost certainly be on offer, while the Rams already know exactly what he can bring to their midfield.

However, Derby are not alone in their pursuit. Preston and Blackburn are both understood to be monitoring developments as they look to strengthen ahead of the new campaign.

Everton are in no rush to make a final call and will likely assess their midfield options throughout the transfer window before reaching a decision. Squad depth, potential arrivals and Moyes’ plans for the season ahead could all influence the outcome.

What appears certain is that Armstrong will not be short of suitors if Everton decide another loan move is the right next step. With interest building across the Championship, the coming weeks could prove significant for one of the club’s most highly-rated young players.
