Gueye started Senegal’s opening Group I fixture against France as the African side suffered a 3-1 defeat.
The experienced midfielder was unable to prevent France from taking control of the contest, leaving Senegal with work to do in their remaining matches against Norway and Iraq.

Nathan Patterson (Scotland)
Patterson made his first start of the tournament last night, recalled at right-back after a late injury ruled out first-choice Aaron Hickey, but couldn’t prevent Scotland slipping to a 1-0 defeat to Morocco.
Steve Clarke’s side had made the perfect start against Haiti, but Morocco’s Ismael Saibari struck inside the opening minute and the goal proved enough to hand the Atlas Lions top spot in Group C.
The defender played 88 minutes before making way for Anthony Ralston, and Scotland now need at least a point against Brazil in their final group game to be sure of qualification.

Everton’s World Cup representation
Everton’s players have experienced mixed fortunes during the opening week of the tournament.
Patterson and Scotland will now have to navigate a final group game against Brazil after Morocco ended their unbeaten start, while Gueye and Ndiaye look to help Senegal respond after their defeat to France.
Pickford and England, meanwhile, made a winning start against Croatia and will be aiming to build on that against Ghana and Panama.
