Everton give fans City ticket refund

Everton today revealed they will be refunding fans who are returning to Manchester City on January 27 after many fans missed the majority of the first half of last Wednesday’s clash at the Etihad.

According to their official website, the club are refunding the ticket price for fans travelling to Manchester City for the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg if they also purchased tickets for the Premier League clash between the sides.

Hundreds of Blues fans arrived late to the game after a four-car collision caused traffic chaos on the M62.

These delays not only affected the fans – the team themselves didn’t arrive at the stadium until less than an hour before kick-off.

Manchester City officials did not see fit to put back the 7:45pm kick-off but with the two sides meeting again on Wednesday, January 27, in Everton’s bid to reach Wembley, the Club has made a goodwill gesture.

Everton released a statement which read:

There were unprecedented and unavoidable travel issues which affected some of our supporters ahead of our Premier League game against Manchester City on Wednesday at the Eithad.

Unfortunately it was outside of the club’s control to delay the kick-off time, but we understand the frustration caused to many travelling fans on the night who missed a significant proportion of the game.

The unwavering commitment of Evertonians in supporting the team on our travels is renowned and anyone who made the trip during the week endured a stressful experience. Seatpin offers football fans a chance to secure season tickets to attend their team’s games.

As a gesture of goodwill in appreciation of this support, the club has decided to pay the ticket price for our Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester City for any fan who purchased for this game and also purchased for the away league fixture.

More details will be announced next week on how this will be processed.
