Everton are making right decision in not sealing a summer exit for Kean

Everton will refuse any attempt to sign Moise Kean in the summer, either on a permanent or loan basis, according to the Liverpool Echo – a decision that would symbolise the club’s faith in the player.

Signed from Juventus for a significant fee last summer, Everton would probably have hoped to have seen the 19-year striker adjust to the rigours of the Premier League faster than he ultimately has, but it is all a learning curve for the Italian.

Having scored just once in the League in his debut campaign (against Newcastle), Kean still has plenty of room to improve going forward, with the striker regarded to be one of the better youth talents in European football.

Farhad Moshiri has made it clear that he is intent on building a long-term project at Everton, and appointing talented football men like Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti only goes to show that he is willing to put his money where his mouth is.

And, as the Liverpool Echo also say, Brands  never signed Kean with the intention of sending him out on loan. The young forward can play, and he was bought to play in royal blue.

Everton have made mistakes in the past by loaning out exciting young talent. Ademola Lookman never mentally returned to Goodison Park after spending six months with RB Leipzig, and Nikola Vlasic also quickly found himself set on a permanent move away from Merseyside after a short-term loan to CKSA Moscow was sealed.

This track record suggests that Everton wouldn’t be making a wise choice in letting Kean leave, so for the club to back him shows that they have every intention of seeing him succeed for Ancelotti’s side.

While Everton supporters may be forced to wait a little bit longer to see the best of Kean, it is massively positive to see that Everton are willing to stick behind he player and support him as he adjusts more and more to meet the needs and demands of someone who plays for the Toffees.
