Everton and Wolves join the race for Thomas Lemar

Spanish outlet AS have reported that Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar is a transfer target for Everton.

The report claims that the Toffees are joined in their interest by fellow Premier League side Wolves.

Everton are edging closer towards multiple signings whilst the only action at Wolves has been the departure of Matt Docherty this summer.

The 24-year-old joined the La Liga giants in 2018 after impressing for Monaco where he scored 16 goals in 90 matches.

It was this form that convinced Atletico to fork out a reported club-record fee of €70 million for the Frenchman, although the deal hasn’t worked out as Diego Simeone might’ve hoped.

Lemar has played 72 times in all competitions for Simeone’s side scoring four goals and has been linked with a move away almost since his arrival.

Now it seems both the club and the manager are keen to move Lemar on this summer, although they are likely to suffer a substantial loss on the transfer.

Arsenal were linked for a long time with the France international, although their interest has cooled since the arrival of Nicolas Pepe.

Now as Carlo Ancelotti begins to put his own squad together, a player with the obvious quality of Lemar who has sparkled on the biggest stage would be another huge plus for the Blues squad.
