Everton reveal more pre-season fixtures as Moyes maps out summer preparations
  • Everton will face Dundee FC, Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City and VfB Stuttgart this summer
  • The Blues will play in Scotland, England and Germany before the Premier League returns
  • A home fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium is still to be announced

Everton’s pre-season plans are beginning to take shape, and David Moyes’ fixture list offers a clear indication of how he wants to prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.

The club have confirmed matches against Dundee FC, Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City and VfB Stuttgart, adding to the already-announced clash with Newcastle United at Murrayfield.

While pre-season results are rarely remembered once the campaign begins, the schedule itself can often reveal plenty about a manager’s thinking.

A gradual build-up

Everton will begin with a trip to Dundee on 18 July before taking on Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City later in the month.

The fixture list allows Moyes to gradually increase the level of opposition before Everton head to Germany in August.

The match against Bolton will also provide a reunion with familiar faces. Former Everton Academy graduate Steven Schumacher is now in charge at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, while Mark Hughes is part of his coaching staff.

Stoke, meanwhile, offer a different challenge and should provide another competitive outing before the squad heads overseas.

Germany trip provides toughest test

The standout fixture among the newly-announced matches is Everton’s meeting with VfB Stuttgart on 8 August.

The Stuttgart fixture is one of the most eye-catching matches on Everton’s pre-season schedule and comes just four days before the meeting with Newcastle United.

By that point, Moyes will expect his side to be much closer to full sharpness.

Everton have also confirmed that another fixture against German opposition will be announced, meaning the trip could become a key part of their preparations.

Focus turns to the Hill Dickinson

The Newcastle fixture at Murrayfield remains one of the headline dates of Everton’s summer schedule, but many supporters will be most interested in the final announcement still to come.

A home pre-season fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium is expected to be confirmed next week, giving fans another opportunity to see Moyes’ squad before the new season gets underway.

With five matches already in the diary and more details still to follow, Everton’s summer programme is beginning to reveal how Moyes intends to prep his players for the challenges ahead.
