Roberto Martinez has this week expressed his delight at Kevin Mirallas’ performance away at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, reiterating just how important the forward is to the team.
The Belgian had an impressive game and scored Everton’s second goal of the afternoon, as well as looking dangerous throughout his return to the first team.
After such a performance, it is likely now that the 28-year-old could get a run in the team, possibly replacing Arouna Kone on the left side of midfield.

Speaking to Belgian media after the Chelsea game, Mirallas expressed his desire to now keep his spot in the first team ahead of the Euro 2016 Championship. He explained:
Today I have proven that I am a footballer who deserves to play, or at least one who should get more playing time.
With such little playing time before Saturday’s game, Roberto Martinez comments today are sure to give the forward reassurance. He said:
Kevin’s performance was outstanding and that is what you want from every member of our squad so I have got no problem whatsoever with that and football is the best judge and when Kevin is at his very, very best he showed just how important he is for us.
Comments such as these suggest that Martinez may give Mirallas a good run in the team in the hope that he can produce more performances such as the one at Stamford Bridge and give Everton more threat on the left side of midfield.
