Will Martinez Continue the 4-1-4-1?

Will Martinez Continue the 4-1-4-1?

Everton had great success last week on the South Coast. A 3-0 win away from home was a lot more than what most supporters dreamed of for the Toffees. With fans asking questions of the club and board, the away victory certainly brightened the mood of everyone. With Martinez actually changing from the regular 4-2-3-1 that we are all so used to, it was nice to see a change in style and making the most of the possession Everton had.

The question remains how Martinez will have the boys lined up against Manchester City and the rest of the strenuous stretch of games through October. Playing against the big boys will be difficult but I believe Martinez will navigate through with a herculean effort from the squad. The Spaniard will have to be studying the habits of the the opposition and conjure a way for the Toffees to win.

Based on the Southampton victory alone, the whole squad seems to be in good form. Lukaku seems to play best with Kone helping up front. Barkley’s feet are electric at the moment and is producing special pieces of play. I believe Martinez should stick with the 4-1-4-1 formation for the City game. Whether or not it produces a win on Sunday, the movement of the ball between the midfield and forwards is a lot more fluid and creates more chances than the previous formation.

Should Everton be victorious this weekend the momentum should be enough to carry the Toffees through the difficult schedule without too much of a worry.
