Shanghai SIPG manager Vitor Pereira has revealed he’s pulled out of the running to replace Marco Silva at Everton.
Pereira had been in negotiations with the Toffees over the past week and was the prime candidate to become manager at Goodison Park.
Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports News, he explained:
It’s always an honour and I am utterly grateful to be considered on a list by a club that I have so much respect for. At this point, I am still the coach of SIPG a club close to my heart in a country that is growing immensely in football. Currently, I am not in a position to make any other commitments.
The report claims Shanghai SIPG offered him a new deal worth £25million-a-year to stay in China for one more season.
It’s said that the managerial shortlist also includes former Arsenal boss Unai Emery and current Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti, while a return for David Moyes has also been heavily touted.
Following the blow, it seems like Everton will remain managerless for Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
Duncan Ferguson will be confident of securing another monumental result in his bid to take charge permanently, though.
