Virals: Josh King Opens Up on Everton Struggles

Former Everton forward Josh King has taken aim at Carlo Ancelotti, accusing the departed Everton manager of ‘lying’ to him.

The Norway international made a deadline day switch from Bournemouth to Everton in January, but failed to make a single Premier League start for the Toffees.

Mostly being deployed as cover along the forward line, King typically came off the bench late into games and failed to register a single goal or assist for the Blues.

Now without a club, King has claimed Ancelotti strung him along with false hope that he would play a larger part at Everton.

Speaking to Norwegian source Dagbladet, as quoted by Everton FC News (@NilSatisNews) on Twitter, King claimed of Ancelotti:

“Do not trust coaches who promise you things and say you will get the chance, that you will start.

“He lied to me, but there are not many honest people who work in football. I had no relationship with Carlo Ancelotti.”

King then opened up on the wider situation at Everton, feeling that he was not afforded a sufficient reason to be kept out of Everton line-ups:

“I do not regret that I went to Everton. I did not get the chance, not a single start. Had I got a start and not performed, I would have understood it. I was told that I would get to play, but it was not delivered.”

King’s words are tinged with a tone of bitterness and cynicism, but it is hard to blame him.

Chances to impress in an Everton shirt were few and far between, and if King is to be believed then Carlo Ancelotti openly deceived the 28-year-old.

As a consolation, Ancelotti had a headache of his own. Preferring a lone-striker system, the consistency of Dominic Calvert-Lewin rendered it difficult to integrate King.
