A social media giant has poked fun at Everton and their influence on European football’s biggest stage in the UEFA Champions League.
Popular sports media handle SPORTbible (@sportbible) took to Twitter to comment on a pattern of former stars and managers that were one-time associates of the club performing in the coveted continental cup competition.
Twitter: Ex-Everton manager is Barcelona manager, Ex-Everton manager is Real Madrid manager and Ex-Everton player just fired… https://t.co/n7untieYOr (@sportbible)
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are managed by former Toffees in Ronald Koeman and Carlo Ancelotti respectively whilst another former Everton man in Idrissa Gana Gueye fired French giants Paris Saint-Germain in front against Manchester City.
The social media titans made light of that fact before commenting that ‘Everton’s influence on elite level football is undeniable at this point’ given the legacy being left on weekday night football in Europe.

The legacies of the three men will vary in the mind of Evertonians.
Carlo Ancelotti departed suddenly over the summer in order to secure his Madrid return, with both clubs agreeing a deal to bring the Italian back to the Spanish capital.
Equally, Koeman left the club in acrimonious circumstances in 2017 with the Toffees left stranded in 18th in the Premier League, having won just two of their nine league games in that season.
However, Gueye has an altogether different story in Everton colours, not least for his standout role as a player.
Far from leaving in poor circumstances, the Senegal international made 134 outings in the Premier League in spells with Aston Villa and Everton.
He has three goals and five assists in the league to his name and made over 7000 passes from his deep-lying defensive role during his time in the highest echelon of English football.
