One Everton fan went viral following an unlikely encounter during the Toffees’ 2-0 win over Norwich City.
Everton stars Andros Townsend and Abdoulaye Doucoure stole the show with a goal each to wrap up a victory thanks to an early penalty and a second-half strike, but one Evertonian that eluded the headlines was Lewis Dobbin.
The Premier Legaue youngster was handed his top-flight debut by new Blues boss Rafa Benitez, coming on as an 89th-minute substitute for winger Alex Iwobi.
The striker – a product of the Blues’ youth academy – only made a small but gratefully-received cameo against the Canaries, but his debut alone was not the only cause of attention for the youngster.
One diehard Evertonian, Kate (@KateElizF), took to Twitter to share her amusing tale. The season ticket holder could not make the game, and her mum attended the game in her stead.
Sat in a front-row seat, her mum stole a kiss on the cheek with the new Everton debutant and attached a photo along with her story on the social media platform – generating over 2800 likes as of Monday [27/9/21].
Dobbin himself caught onto the viral post and reshared the Tweet, captioning it with a series of cry-laughing emojis with a congratulatory emoji tacked on to the end as he expressed his delight at the hilarity of the situation.

As one Everton fan missed out on the chance to steal a cheek-peck with the debutant, another usurped her spot – and one close to home at that!
The story only adds to the delight surrounding the youngster’s debut, albeit short-lived. Fans will be hoping Benitez can commit to youth development and afford more minutes to Dobbin and his fellow young Blues.
