Everton were looking at several managers after sacking Marco Silva, and one of the names in the running for the job has confirmed that he held talks with the club.
Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery has confirmed to Spanish TV programme El Larguero, via Gianluca Di Marzio, that he did speak to Everton, and that they were interested in him becoming the new boss.

Emery was sacked as Arsenal boss after a poor run of form that saw the Gunners end up in the bottom half of the table.
The Spaniard said:
Everton was interested in me and I thought about it. I didn’t say no, we also had a three-hour interview. They already liked me when I went to Paris Saint-Germain.
I want this to be a pause for reflection. My first idea is to stay in Madrid and then go to Valencia and London. I’d like to visit my relatives in San Sebastian. I have several teams interested in me, but I have not received offers to return to coach. I would love to go back to work in Spain but I do not exclude anything.

Emery was a solid choice for the role, especially with his history of winning trophies and leading clubs to finals with Sevilla and the Gunners.
However, his experience in England was not the greatest.
The Spaniard struggled to get results, ending up with a seven game winless streak with Arsenal, via BBC Sport, despite leading Arsenal to the Europa League final.
Ancelotti looks to be the perfect choice for Everton, considering his past pedigree and experience.
He also has some success in England, something that Emery struggled to do.
