Everton completed the signing of Cenk Tosun earlier this month for £27 million from Turkey but he has now confirmed that the move came very close to breaking down, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
Tosun came to London with his partner as talks of his move progressed but it took much longer than he would have liked it.
The trip was arranged as part of his plans for New Year before he had made the move to Everton.

Both clubs struggled to agree on the fee at first which left to Tosun in limbo, wanting to leave the country.
It wasn’t until the first week of January that Besiktas president Fikret Orman held talks with people in Everton and the deal progressed swiftly from there.
The January signing explained exactly happened with his transfer.
I had already planned to spend the New Year in London but the transfer took a long time, longer than expected, a day or two before I was going to go back the owner called me to tell me that I should go and negotiate my terms with Everton.
He also admitted that leaving his club Besiktas and the fans was a tough thing to do.
Everybody knows what a big Besiktas fan I am, it was my childhood team and so it was difficult to leave, Besiktas and the supporters played a great role in where I am now.
