Everton will target Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart if Pep Guardiola targets Barcelona keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, according to the Sunday Express.
The Englishman struggled at Euro 2016 and, since his return to training, has been on an intensive training course to improve his distribution. However, Guardiola feels that there has been no significant improvement, and he has been forced into the market.
Everton are said to be suitors for 29-year-old Hart, who could become a victim of Guardiola’s summer overhaul at the club. The Toffees are looking for a new goalkeeper to replace long-standing first-choice Tim Howard.
City are willing to offer up to £40m for Ter Stegen but the Catalan giants are not prepared to let Ter Stegen leave for less than his £67m release clause. The 24-year-old has been on City’s radar since Guardiola’s appointment, and the Sky Blues are now preparing an initial offer.
