It hurts to see that image, doesn’t it?
Everton can’t score a goal at the moment and are struggling to put in even one good performance since the season kicked off.
Evertonians woes were compounded on Thursday evening after a devastating 3-0 defeat to Europa League group stage opponents Atalanta and it doesn’t get any easier from there.
The Toffees will now face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday as they try to score their first goal in three games, and register more than one shot on target.
To preview the game, we have been speaking to Dale O’Donnell, freelance journalist, and editor of popular independent Manchester United blog Stretty News.
Welcome Dale, first of all, how would you rate Everton so far this season?
Well, it’s been a really difficult start to the season for Everton but you spent well throughout the summer. It remains to be seen whether Koeman can utilise all of these new signings and make them gel in time to challenge for a European spot. I’d call it an underwhelming start but things will pick up.

Where do you see Everton finishing this season?
Top eight should be a certainty but it all comes down to whether the new players settle in time. With Spurs’ questionable home form, I see no reason why Everton can’t push them for a place.
How do you rate Romelu Lukaku’s performance since his move to Old Trafford?
Lukaku has been excellent. He’s even started better than Ibrahimovic last season when you count for six goals from as many games. I think in Red Rom, we finally have a goalscorer that could win United the Premier League. But it’s a big ask this season due to matters out of his hands.
On the other hand, how do you feel Rooney has done since his move and will he step up this season?
Meh. I’m just happy Rooney’s no longer our issue. As for whether or not he will step up? Less is expected of Rooney now that he’s back at Everton as opposed to playing for the biggest club in England. He never looked after himself, therefore, previous heights are deemed unrealistic. It’s really, really sad.

What are your expectations for United this season?
United need to finish in the top three. There can be no excuses if we finish lower than that. And Mourinho knows this team must push for the title in order to give fans a reason to feel optimistic under the current management. After all, I don’t think we’re too far away from being considered dominant champions.
Do you fear any Everton players for Sunday’s game? Who do you think will give you problems?
I like Michael Keane, although I wouldn’t say I fear him. He’s a defender!
Seamus Coleman is a top player and everyone in football should wish him a good recovery, but going into the game on Sunday I’d be wary of Gylfi Sigurdsson. He’s a player that can make special things happen.
What are your predictions/score for the game?
Manchester United 2-1 Everton.
Thanks to Dale for taking the time out to answer our questions.
