Stones completes Manchester City move

John Stones has signed for Manchester City in a record breaking deal, thought to be in the region of £50million.

Stones was signed from Barnsley in David Moyes’ last season at the club for a nominal £3million fee. The youngster spend a brief time in the youth teams before being promoted up to the first team under Roberto Martinez.

John soon become a valuable member of the team at such a young age, now only 22, a regular starting player in the Premier League. Manchester City have seemingly put their faith in the defender by making the most expensive home grown defender of all time, smashing Rio Ferdinand’s transfer fee of £30million.

Farhad Moshiri has reportedly told Ronald Koeman that any money made on player sales will be made available to further strengthen the squad. Although Everton are said to have £100million to spend this summer, the club have yet to make a splash in the transfer market and will be looking to do so before the window closes.

With that in mind, it looks to be that Koeman has already identified his replacements. The club are attempting to prise Ashley Williams from Swansea and the club have lodged a £17million bid for Sunderland defender Lamine Kone with the Ivorian staying at a Liverpool hotel yesterday evening.

The Blues have also been linked with players such as Axel Witsel, Juan Mata, William Carvalho.
