Memphis Depay seems almost certain to leave Manchester United when the January transfer window opens up next month, but who he decides to join remains very much up in the air.
It’s common knowledge that Ronald Koeman would be interested in bringing the Dutch winger to Everton but according to the Liverpool Echo, Tottenham are interested in making a surprise move for him.
Jose Mourinho would like to see Depay leave the club in January, either on loan or on a permanent basis after failing to impress so far this season.
His struggles go back to his debut season in English football back in 2015/16 under Louis van Gaal. Either way, the £20m signing from PSV hasn’t really worked out and Roma, Wolfsburg and Nice are all also interested in signing him.
Koeman is also interested in working with Morgan Schneiderlin again and wants to sign the Manchester United outcast in January.
Due to the performances of Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera of late, Schneiderlin is way down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Everton and Tottenham went head-to-head in the summer for the signing of Moussa Sissoko on transfer deadline day in the summer, with Spurs securing the Frenchman’s signature.
On reflection, Everton might’ve dodged a bullet from that deal but will hope to have the better of the North London club in the race to sign Depay.
