Benfica have reportedly identified Everton manager Marco Silva as a potential target as they prepare to sack Rui Vitoria.
It’s been widely reported in Portugal that the Liga NOS giants are considering appointing a new manager in the near future, with Vitoria’s stay at the club set to come to an end sooner rather than later.
According to claims from Portuguese news outlet Correio da Manhã, as translated by Sport Witness, Benfica have drawn up a three-man shortlist of managerial targets followed by two contingency plans, should their initial pursuits fall through.

Leonardo Jardim, Jorge Jesus and Abel Ferreira are reported to make up Benfica’s shortlist of three top targets. Everton chief Silva and Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca are said to be Benfica’s backup plans.
Following a rocky start to life at Goodison Park, Silva appears to be stamping his authority on proceedings with Everton, with the team currently in ninth place on the Premier League table.
