Everton manager Sam Allardyce is planning to appoint a club psychologist for the first time at the Merseyside club as he looks for every way possible to change the mentality of his players, according to a report on the Telegraph.
It looked like there was going to be a relegation battle for Everton a few weeks ago after capitulating against Southampton, but the last two wins have had a positive effect on the players and fans, who now believe that the club can rise up the table.
The club are now in 10th following the wins against West Ham United and Huddersfield Town but Allardyce still believes that the players need to clear their minds of all the turbulence at the club in the early stages of the season.
I haven’t got the psychologist yet but I will be (getting one). I am doing it all myself at the minute.
I think that will be very important. If the brain is clear and positive before the lads go out then they produce a positive performance. If the brain is clouded and doubtful you don’t see the player produce the abilities he has got. That has obviously been seen on a couple of occasions here with the lack of confidence from the lack of results.
The Toffees go into the Merseyside derby on Sunday in a confident mood and will be hoping to produce a shock at Anfield.
