Everton are edging ever closer to appointing Sam Allardyce as their new manager, with Sammy Lee set to join as the club’s assistant manager, according to the Daily Mail.
The Toffees have been actively hunting for a new manager following their sacking of Ronald Koeman over a month ago. David Unsworth has been performing poorly since being in caretaker charge of the club, too.
A number of candidates were explored by the Everton board but it appears as though Allardyce is the man who will lead the Toffees into the second half of the season.

Lee, who worked with Allardyce briefly in the England national team and at Crystal Palace, boasts immense experience in the Premier League and has helped as an assistant manager at clubs such as Southampton and Liverpool.
Everton are sat in 17th place, just two points above the relegation zone. They will need to beat Allardyce’s former club, West Ham, to put daylight between them and the bottom three.
