Everton midfielder Wayne Rooney is said to be in ‘serious talks’ to join Major League Soccer outfit D.C. United, according to the Washington Post.
The 32-year-old has made 36 appearances in all competitions this season, and has scored 11 goals – but none since September.
The boyhood Evertonian has been back in the blue shirt this season after leaving Manchester United, where he spent 13 years after leaving Goodison Park in 2004.

Despite having another year left on his Merseyside contract, reports have suggested England’s record goalscorer is ready for a move stateside.
D.C. (based in Washington DC) supposedly approached the Croxteth-born play-maker last season, but were snubbed in their attempts to secure his services.
If Rooney has grown disillusioned with the Premier League, he may well have received inspiration from fellow former superstars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, and Didier Drogba who have either spent (or are still spending) the twilight years of their career in the MLS.
