The United States international defender spent last season on loan with Bolton Wanderers in the Championship, making a total of 34 appearances.
Now the 20-year old has joined the Latics, who are making their return to the Championship after earning promotion from League One as champions last season.

Robinson had been tipped by some fans to remain on Merseyside this season to compete with and provide support to Leighton Baines for a first-team left-back spot, however the £20million signing of Barcelona full-back Lucas Digne had dashed any hope of significant game time at Goodison Park.
Robinson, who has been with Everton since he was 11, expressed his delight at having signed a new deal with the club before being loaned out. As reported by Everton’s official website, Robinson said:
It means everything to me to sign this new deal.
Everyone has looked after me here at Everton, all the coaches, all the staff.
The lads who I’ve grown up playing with are all doing well and prospering [Tom Davies and Jonjoe Kenny] and I want to be the next one to break through, like so many of my mates have.
