Warning lights should be flashing at the Everton boardroom amid the latest comments from the agent of a number of footballing superstars, including loanee Moise Kean.
Mino Raiola, who counts the likes of Mario Balotelli, Marco Verratti, Erling Haaland and Zlatan Ibrahimovic among his clientele, recently sparked controversy after claiming that his client Paul Pogba’s time at Manchester United is ‘over’ with the player ‘unhappy’ at Old Trafford.
Much furore was caused by the comments, prompting Sky Sports pundit and ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher to publicly fume over the situation of Pogba and his agent for disrupting the future of the midfielder, as he raged:
I’ve been saying this for 12 months, oh my God, he is the most overrated player I’ve ever seen in my life. I think the two of them are a disgrace. We’ll all blame the agent now and say ‘ask Pogba’, what does he think?
Agents in this day and age, they’re not just agents. They’re a parent, they’re a best friend, they’re the financial advisor, they book holidays, they go away together.
Those two will be like that. He’ll be Pogba’s best mate, so Pogba will be well aware of what was going to come out of his mouth. If he wasn’t, he should sack his agent. It’s very, very simple. That’s all that needs to happen.

It is for this reason that the uncertain nature of Kean’s future on Merseyside could be under threat from the nature of Raiola’s decisions.
In being represented by him, the 20-year-old risks being thrust into the limelight for all the wrong reasons as he looks to continue his spell in good spirits at PSG.
Any intense agent-led speculation over whether he will make a move away from Merseyside permanent could be cause for concern.
Ancelotti has insisted that the 20-year-old striker has a future at Everton, but Raiola’s interventions could jeopardise any good faith between all parties. Watch this space; there could be the potential for Kean’s future to get ugly, judging by the furore over Pogba at the minute.
