Jordan Pickford believes that Everton have the ability to match Manchester City this weekend, claiming the Toffees just need confidence to carry them over the line.
The Blues have suffered several disappointing results in the Premier League in recent weeks, losing to Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Sheffield United, while the club could only manage a draw against Crystal Palace on the opening day.

Despite this though, Pickford has confidence in Everton’s talent on the field, with the England goalkeeper believe Everton have enough ability to cause damage.
In an interview on Everton’s official website, Pickford encouraged his team to rise to the occasion against the ‘best side in England’. Pickford said:
They are the best side in England and one of the best in the world and the ambition at Everton must be to beat the best.
Everyone knows it is an extremely tough game but we can make it tough for them as well. We have the ability up top to create chances and be clinical.
Our defence has been very good at home and didn’t let in a goal for seven games [prior to defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 this month].
If all that comes together on one evening we can get the result.
The style of their play; their tempo and pressing, they are in your faces all the time and the lads never get a breather.
But we have the ability to match them and need to have the confidence we can win.
Due to Everton recent run of results, several fans weren’t exactly on the same page as Pickford in regards to his belief in Marco Silva’s men, reacting as such on social media.

At this point I think Pickford’s comments are wishful thinking, but a positive attitude is the first step to eventual success.
I cannot see Everton beating Manchester City, and I think the club would count themselves very fortunate to come away with a single point. However, stranger things have happened in football.
I’d love to go into the game with my fingers crossed and hoping for a positive result, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
