Current Everton and former Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has retained the North-East Young Player of the Year award, which were announced on Thursday night, the Northern Echo report.
Pickford was arguably Sunderland’s stand out performer, in what was a miserable season for the Black Cats, which ended in relegation from the Premier League.

Pickford, 23, joined the Toffees in the summer for a fee worth £30 million, which made him at the time, the club’s record signing, however, this was then broke again in the same window with the arrival of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea, worth £45 million.

Pickford has been reunited with former boss Sam Allardyce, with the latter given the hot seat at Goodison Park for the remainder of the season, taking over from Ronald Koeman.
The pair previously worked together at Sunderland, with Allardyce keeping the club in the Premier League before their relegation last season.
