Everton defender Matthew Pennington has signed a new three-year contract with the club this evening, commiting his future to the club until June 2021.
We covered the news earlier that despite Leeds expressing an interest in keeping the on-loan 23-year old centre-back, Everton were set to offer Pennington a new deal.
Now the club have confirmed that he has put pen to paper, having made over 20 appearances for the Championship outfit this season.

Pennington made three Premier League appearances for Everton last season, scoring his first goal for the club in the Merseyside derby at Anfield, and will be hoping to break through as a regular next season.
Talking to the club’s official website, Pennington expressed his delight at signing a new deal. He said;
I am delighted with my new contract. This is the club I have been at since I was a little boy and I am excited to extend my stay here and remain in the royal blue of Everton.
It’s great to see some of the young lads like Tom Davies and Jonjoe Kenny getting opportunities. These are players who I have come through the ranks with and to see them playing in the first team is great and gives me inspiration.
