Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has claimed that the Merseyside club are “close” to appointing a new manager, more than four weeks after sacking Ronald Koeman, according to a report on the Liverpool Echo.
Moshiri owns a 49.9% stake in the football club and had Watford boss Marco Silva down as the club’s number one target but appears to have failed in his attempts to lure him to Goodison Park.

Moshiri said:
The first priority is to stabilise the club and finalise the appointment of a manager. We are close.
David Unsworth has stepped in as caretaker boss over the past month but has not shown any signs of improving performances or results.
The Toffees were handed an embarrassing 5-1 defeat at home in the UEFA Europa League group stage fixture against Serie A opponents Atalanta.
Moshiri also met Sam Allardyce for a face-to-face meeting in London, but the former England manager ruled himself out of contention after not being offered the job.
Unsworth himself is keen to take on the permanent role at the club but is yet to prove himself so far.
The caretaker boss hoped that the late win against Watford could rejuvenate his side and bring back positivity in the dressing room, but the thrashing last night has knocked their morale hugely.
