David Moyes would be open to the prospect of managing Everton again, after Roberto Martinez was sacked on Thursday.
Moyes managed the Blues for 11 years before leaving to take charge of Manchester United in 2013 and told the Times that he wouldn’t be averse to a second spell at Goodison Park:
Would I consider going back? I’ve said if I get an exciting challenge and something that makes me feel I could get my teeth into it then I would be really interested.
When we took over we had 11 great and successful years but we also had to rebuild the club a little bit. I just think now the change has been made and Everton need to now go and do it again.
When the former Preston manager was placed in the Goodison hotseat Everton were regularly fighting against relegation, but the Scot transformed the club’s fortunes and moulded the Blues into a top-six outfit on a limited budget.
Some supporters thought Moyes had taken Everton as far as he could, but the former Manchester United boss is eager for another bite at the managerial cherry.
He added:
If you give David Moyes an opportunity he tends to rebuild a club and he tends to get it going in the right direction and making sure that things are correct and I’m looking forward to getting the chance to do that again.
The former Celtic centre-half was sacked by Real Sociedad last November after just a year in charge and has been linked with a variety of Premier League clubs since his dismissal from the Anoeta.
A smorgasbord of managers have been linked with the Everton job over the past couple of days, with Dutch pair Frank De Boer and Ronald Koeman the current favourites to succeed Roberto Martinez.
