Monaco consider re-calling Sidibe in January – bad move for Everton

Djibril Sidibe could be re-called by Monaco in January, according to fresh reports.

It was reported earlier this week that Everton were considering ending Sidibe’s loan early, as the club were said to have been left underwhelmed by the World Cup winner.

Paris Saint-Germain right-back Colin Dabga was reportedly being lined up for a January offer, with Sidibe set to return to Monaco.

Now however, fresh reports claim that Monaco could be the ones to pull the plug on Sidibe, if they receive a permanent offer from AC Milan in January.

Sidibe, who is on a season-long on Merseyside, has reportedly attracted the interest of the Rossoneri, who could look to move for their man once the winter transfer window opens.

According to Fox Sports in Italy (via Liverpool Echo), Monaco could look to bring the defender back to the Stade Louis II in January if the Italian side shore up their interest with an offer.

While Everton do have a permanent option in their contract with Sidibe, it could become moot if Monaco elect to bring the defender back to the principality.

As I’ve said earlier this week, there has been too much furore over a player who has yet to really get his chance at Goodison Park.

I spoke to French football expert Jeremy Smith before the season began, and he claimed that it was always going to take time for Sidibe to settle, with the Frenchman needing to prove his worth to earn his place.

He hasn’t yet done that, but we’re only eight games into the Premier League season. He will start this weekend, and he still has plenty of time to really bed himself in, so all this talk of Everton not wanting him seems rather premature.

In regards to Milan’s interest, that could be an issue if Monaco want the immediate cash-in, with Everton’s money not guaranteed as the club have an option, not an obligation to purchase clause. However, it does seem odd that Monaco would have a re-call clause if Everton have agreed on an optional purchase clause.

Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. All Sidibe can do is focus on West Ham, making sure he puts in the best performance possible.
